We have a number of projects that include art studios currently under construction, including AA House, Art Fort and IRIE House. However, two of our projects are exclusively art studios – Gardiner Art Studio and Bully Hill Merino Studio. Today we’re focusing our blog post on these two art studio spaces.
Gardiner Art Studio
Gardiner Art Studio is a gallery and studio space for a local artist. We did a stakeout of the project back in September and are excited to be nearly complete with foundation work. For more on the design of Gardiner Art Studio, make sure to check out our Behind the Design post.
The design for Gardiner Art Studio features a pitched roof structure divided into a gallery and working studio space.
The studio is being built on our client’s existing property. We met up with the clients and contractor earlier this year for a stake out of the project.
Footings were then laid out and poured. We’re also in the process of pouring the planters surrounding the art studio and deck area.
Bully Hill Merino Studio
Bully Hill Merino Studio is an addition to the existing Bully Hill House. While the home has an original art studio space, our clients craved a space dedicated to fiber and textile art. The Merino Studio will branch off of the home’s existing entryway while remaining a distinct volume.
Bully Hill Merino Studio started construction before Gardiner Art Studio, so we’re a bit further along in construction. The new studio sits behind the main house, closer to the tree line at the rear of the property.
The studio has been fully sheathed and windows have been put in. We’re looking forward to interior finishes and siding to be installed soon!
