This week, we’re even more excited than usual to share the progress on one of our current projects under construction – Cluster One. The last time we wrote an update back in June, we had poured the foundation and site work was in full swing. Now, framing is up! The house has been sheathed, windows are in and the roof structure is all in place. We’ve even framed all of the interior walls! If this all seems like a lot of work for just two months of construction – it is. As we shared in a Facebook post recently, we had a bit of a trick up our sleeves…
Factory-Perfect Framing
Rather than using traditional on-site framing methods, we contracted a company called Harvest Homes. They took our plans and drawings and built all of the walls offsite in a factory environment. We build all of our homes to high standards and with a great amount of care and detail. However, the factory build gives it just that extra amount of precision. Since the walls arrive with Zip-Sheathing attached, none of the exterior framing is exposed to the elements. The other big benefit, as will become clear from the video below, is how fast the build process is onsite. The weather thankfully cooperated and we were able to get the house up in just about a week’s time.
To assemble the project, the build team used some serious crane work and a few sets of hands to guide each piece into place. The team then attaches the walls to the foundation and to each other. Interior walls are set into place before the second floor framing is placed. This is our first time using this factory-built method, so we were very excited to be onsite to see it all happen. Check out the photos and video below to see all of the progress!
