It has been a long time since I’ve had to think about starting a new school year… but we are actually feeling that “Back To School” vibe here in the office this year so this month’s ArchiTalks theme is a fun one to explore.
Today’s post is part of the ArchiTalks series in which Bob Borson of Life of an Architect selects a theme, and a bunch of us architects who also write a blog post on the same day at the same time… This month our theme is Back To School:
End of Summer = “Back To School”
August has been a quiet month and I realize its mainly because most of our clients are in the end of summer mode – getting the last of vacations in, picking up kids from camp, shopping for bookbags and school supplies – and far less worried about touching base with their architect! …which has given us time to focus on ourselves for a nice change of pace.

But as Summer comes to a close with Labor Day right around the corner, we too are prepping for a busy “start of the school year.” September is a time when things seem to get back to “normal”… parents and kids get back on schedule, businesses get back to work, and life is back in full swing – future house plans included. We are gearing up for a fun-filled fall!
Lake Wylie House – finishes and details coming together!
We have 3 projects currently under construction which will be completed in the next 3 months, and we’re very excited to be getting into the Schematic Design Phase on 2 new houses in the Hudson Valley. (Until construction begins, the SD phase is definitely my favorite part of the process.) In addition, we’re hoping to start construction on the Hyde Park House (Tampa, FL) and Cubed (Hudson Valley) before the end of the year.
TinkerBox – Design details, finishes and materials..
Looking like this “school year” is going to be a lot of fun! Wishing everyone a Happy “Back To School”!
