Design Inspiration: Modern Living Rooms

SkyHaus, one of our new construction projects, presents us with a common challenge. Sitting on a ridge line with spectacular views of distant mountains, the primary living space has to feature expansive windows. At the same time, a fireplace to cozy up next to is a must, and a television and media center will play a central role in casual hang out time for our clients. Often, our clients want to conceal the media center when it’s not in use, while other times we need to work to integrate a visible television into the design of the wall.

We had a similar challenge at Cat Hill – and think we found a great solution for that project. We love figuring out these kinds of design challenges, but we often look to inspiration for ideas on how best to solve them. Today, we’re sharing some of our favorite inspiration images of fireplace and media center designs. We’ve also included some quick model shots of how the Skyhaus living room design has developed through design development – it’s fun to see how different options and ideas can work in the same space!
