We have yet to give an update on 8 Oaks construction here on The Architect’s Notebook so we are so excited to give a full rundown of all of the progress thus far. As a refresher, 8 Oaks is one of our projects in Tampa, Florida. While it’s of course harder to visit the site as often as we’d like, we’ve flown down a few times to check-in on the progress. 8 Oaks is named after the eight oak trees that grace the site. The home is designed for our lovely clients, a couple with three kids that like to spend time outdoors and swim in the pool.
After the footings were poured, the CMU (concrete masonry unit) foundation and walls were built. As the CMU walls kept growing we really began to see the home take shape on the site.
While we were on site back in May, we met with our contractors to go over shop drawings, wood finishes, and made sure the floor, cabinets, and windows all matched.
We were so excited when steel columns began to be delivered on site! From October to November, steel columns arrived and were installed. With the columns in place, we were really able to gauge the scale of the home on the site and how marvelous the window wall will be.
Most recently, the trusses were being installed. The second floor really started taking shape!
Just the other day, we got images on site of the second floor being framed!
Behind the scenes, all the way over in Germany, the windows for the grand window wall looking out to the pool are being manufactured. We are so excited by how this home is coming together and look forward to updating you all again!
