I have a secret to tell… I actually really enjoy writing these blog posts each week.
Ok, there may be some weeks when I have a hard time thinking of something to say that you might enjoy reading, but mostly I love what I do and I love to talk about it.
Over the holidays a friend took me aside at a party saying, “I hate to ask you to talk business but…” She and her husband are thinking about building a new home, they are looking for an architect and she had some questions. We chatted for a few minutes about what kind of architect they were looking for and some things they should think about. I suggested a few local architects I know in her area and told her to please feel free to ask me any more questions they had about the process.
At the beginning of 2014, I wrote a short series of posts about Working with an Architect for just this reason. It was a big hit not only with architects – actually just heard from an architect friend this week that he sent a potential client to my site to read those posts (the best compliment ever!) – but also with non-architects wondering how the process works. That series has been a focal point around many architecture conversations.
The scenario at the holiday party happens quite often and I usually think to myself, “Why be sorry? Don’t all architects love to talk about architecture all of the time?!”
So this post is a thank you to all of you who read my blog… I didn’t love the idea of blogging when I started, but I now understand the value in putting yourself out there so that you can gain your clients’ and your readers’ trust. I enjoy the conversations. and I look forward to writing a lot more about process, projects and residential architecture in 2015!
