Studio Update: September

We are officially in our busiest season of the year! As kids go back to school and the weather gets cooler, clients tend to start having time to think about that renovation or new home that they’ve been dreaming of – and we get to be excited about starting some new projects!

We love this time of year in the Hudson Valley – not only are the first glimpses of fall starting to appear in the slow changing leaves, but we always have a jam-packed two months of events and happenings. We recently celebrated our birthday, are headed to the annual CRAN symposium this week, are publishing our next issue of Valley MMag in the next couple of weeks and are looking forward to Field & Supply before two really fun photoshoots in mid to late October. As I said, it’s our busy season!

Happy Birthday to Studio MM!

Earlier this week Studio MM turned 15! On Monday, we took a fun look back at some of our favorite moments and memories over the past 15 years. It’s always inspiring to see how far we’ve come and how much we’ve accomplished.

Design is in the Details: Custom Furniture

In Design

Acorn Hill

We are starting a small renovation project to help our clients reimagine their recently purchased new home. We’ve been working on existing conditions, documenting the home and starting our Pre-Design process with our clients. We’re looking forward to digging into Schematic Design with them!

Laurel Ridge

We recently had a great meeting about our newest Catskill Terraces project, Laurel Ridge. We reviewed a number of different schemes and inspiration images and talked a lot about programming and storage spaces for this new home! We’re looking forward to moving ahead on the design to refine our floor plans and begin working in 3D!

MAD Beach House

We are thrilled to have completed our permit set for MAD Beach House! This was a labor of love – and a really fun collaboration with our structural engineer client! We’re looking forward to this project starting construction soon and seeing this gorgeous beach home come to life. Below, a sneak peek of how complicated it can be to do HVAC planning in Florida…!

Shokan Reno

After completing a minor interior renovation for our Shokan Reno clients, we’ve been helping them with some interior design selections and strategies. They wanted us to help them imagine spaces that would be flexible and that would evolve as their kids get older. We’ve been coming up with some fun material selections, and have devised a few different strategies for spaces that will easily accommodate the growing family!

In Construction

Accord Addition

We’re moving forward quickly on Accord Addition! Walls have been framed, the roof is on, and windows went in last week! The GC is moving quickly so that our clients can enjoy their new space in the fall.

Quattro

There has been lots of activity at Quattro in the past month! The foundation was poured, waterproofing and insulation applied, backfill completed and we are in the middle of pre-slab plumbing and electrical work. We’re looking forward to pouring the slab and starting framing in the next month or so!

Jardin66

HVAC and roof framing are ongoing at Jardin66! We were recently onsite to review progress, meet with the GC, and look at a few details! It’s great to be able to start to imagine some of these spaces as they will be when the renovation is finished, including the new entryway and the dining area.

MCM Reno

We are making good progress at our MCM Reno project. We’ve been careful to retain the overall character of the house in the renovation and are happy to see the fast pace of construction on this project thus far – everyone is committed to getting the clients back into their home as soon as we can!

Pond Lane

Framing continues at Pond Lane! The new entryway and screen porch are both in the midst of framing. It’s looking almost like a completely new home!

Vannstrøm

Siding continued to make progress at Vannstrøm – and it looks fantastic! It is always fun to see our signature gutter detail on a home. We also recently completed an electrical and HVAC walkthrough, confirming locations for switches and vents with our plans and our client.
