Studio Update: May

We have had an incredibly busy past month! We’ve had a few more projects make phenomenal progress onsite and have been designing and iterating on a few projects in the studio. Our spring team offsite took place last week and we had a blast hanging out with the whole team, seeing projects, and taking part in some super fun offsite activities. We’ve sent our Spring/Summer issue of Valley MMag to print and are looking forward to distribution later this month. We’re also super excited to share that we were able to take final photos at BC Retreat this week – we can’t wait to share them soon!

May Team Offsite

Last week, we spent three days together for our spring offsite. As always, Marica had many surprises up her sleeve, ranging from the creative to the educational. We kicked things off by designing some super special birthday cards for a “client”, which were judged based on “birthdayness”, “fun”, “thoughtfulness” and “creativity”. They turned out beautifully and were fun to share with the recipient over the weekend!

We spent the evening making tacos, with each of us in charge of a different part of our shared meal. We even made our own tortillas!

The team favorite activity of the offsite had to be our pottery class at L’Impatience in Kingston! We spent two hours learning from Benedicte and each made our own mug. Each of us was able to take our own approach, with sizes ranging from super sweet espresso cups to extra large cafe-au-lait mugs. We came away inspired, and some of us would even love to continue taking ceramics classes in the future!

Our big project for this offsite was to get the entire team excited about and invested in creating video content. Our clients for ClusterOne were gracious enough to let us spend two days in their home, brainstorming, shooting content and even interviewing them. Each of the four teams put together their own reel from the footage that they collected and we shared our ideas and drafts with the clients. We all had so much fun learning new techniques and spending quality time with some of our favorite clients!

In Construction

Artists’ Ranch

We also spent a portion of our offsite doing a site visit at Artists’ Ranch! Since the project is a little further away from our office, not all of us had been to the site before. The house is in the midst of framing and window install, so we braved the downpour to check out all of the progress and walk through the house. So fun to see the new living room enclosed in windows and the house coming to life!

Whitfield Farm

Demo has started on the renovation scope at Whitfield Farm. We’ve been working with the clients on tile and lighting orders and stopped by last week to check out the nearly completed gym and main suite. We loved seeing the transformation from the winter views to the treehouse-like effect of the summer leaves!

8 Oaks

Marica was down in Tampa again at the end of April and had a chance to stop by 8 Oaks. Stone installation has started on the home’s facade. We are so thrilled to see this project making progress and the exteriors coming together!

Gardiner Art Studio

Punchlist work continues at Gardiner Art Studio, but we’ve also been working closely with our clients to get some landscaping work done. It’s looking great – and will be even better when plants are put in over the next couple weeks!

IRIE House

Stone work on the fireplace is now complete, the pool trellis has been finished and millwork installation continues! We’ve been hard at work on exterior grading and are loving how the covered walkway is starting to come together with the planned site work!

Mt Tremper Cottage

This fun and funky renovation project is under construction! A new garage addition will help provide much needed shelter, while a rearranged interior and updated floor will make the home more functional. Concrete was poured and framing is well underway!

Vannstrom

The second floor framing at Vannstrom was in place the last time we stopped by at the end of April. This one is moving along nicely and we are looking forward to seeing the windows installed and roof in place!

On the Boards

Mad Beach House

This beach house in Tampa has been a fun collaboration with the home’s owner, who is a structural engineer. We’ve been working with large planes of concrete, fun beach house details, and finessing the interiors!

Olivebridge Reno

We’re in the midst of Construction Documents on this project and are working out the fine details on a mudroom addition and interior renovation.

Fowler Lake

We had our final SD meeting for this project last month and have been working on putting together elevations and more interior drawings for our meeting later this week. During our last meeting, we showed our clients two options for the addition, one that blended with the existing house and one that provided a modern contrast.

Rhinecliff Estate Guesthouse

Part one of a larger project, this guesthouse renovation will provide our clients with a more functional gym, laundry and storage space. We had our first Schematic Design meeting at the end of April and are moving forward quickly on this small renovation project!

Looking Ahead…

The rest of May is a bit calmer for the studio, with some of us out on vacation or taking long weekends before the summer season really starts to get going. We are very excited to be publishing the next issue of Valley MMag in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out to pick up a copy near you!
