“These playful architectural elements can be used in modern homes to provide shelter from the sun, privacy for inhabitants, or texture and interest…”
A few weeks ago we presented a collection of images for our post about A Play with Light and Shadow in Modern Architecture based on inspiration from one of our clients. As we have continued to develop her project we’ve introduced that idea into the architecture of her home. We designed a modern wood screen element that can be used in different ways for different rooms. In one area the screens slide along the exterior glass wall to provide shade from the low angle of the winter sun; in the bedrooms the screens can be adjusted along the windows to create privacy. In addition to the practical reasons for the screens, we love the added “magical moments” this design feature adds to our client’s home.
