Our returning clients from Tranquil Abiding have been envisioning Tranquil Guest House as a jewel in their landscape. This jewel serves as a place of relaxation and warmth for guests tired from their travels. The distance between the guest house and the main house allows for enough privacy and a calming walk back and forth. Taking shape as a single rectangular form, affordability and efficiency welcome increased functionality. Existing stone from Tranquil Abiding in combination with other materials allows for a continuation of and dialogue with Tranquil Abiding’s exterior textures.

From the main entrance, a view straight through to the back deck grounds the home within the landscape, mirroring the importance of viewpoints in the main home’s design. Inside, details like a custom kitchen island, built-in desks, drawers, and storage cubbies maximize functionality of the space. Translating the cozy environment from the main house to the guest house, a freestanding wood stove and wood floors bring warmth to the space. While technically visitors, guests are made to feel at home at Tranquil Guest House.
