July and August are always busy months in the studio. Summer events are in full swing, we’re hard at work on the next issue of Valley MMag, and we’re starting to look ahead towards the pressures of fall and getting foundations into the ground before winter. We’ve been on lots of site visits and had a great workshop day last week! Check out what we’ve been up to!
Photography at VIA43
This super special project was finally photographed! We worked closely with Brad and Mango to photograph this home and all of the design moments and details. We’re so excited by the proofs we saw last week and can’t wait to share more about the project in the coming months.

Team Workshop
For the past eight months, we’ve been holding periodic team workshops. The goal is to have the whole team get together for the day and to dedicate the day focusing on one particular skill or task. In the past, we’ve reviewed contracts and brainstormed how best to onboard team members. For the workshop last week, Marica had us review construction documents, discuss particular details we needed to review and look at onsite and then took us on a few site visits to projects. We stopped by Vannstrom and had productive and engaging conversations about wall sections, checked out HVAC rough-in at Artists’ Ranch and were able to see progress at Hudson House, a unique renovation project!

In Design
MCM Reno
Our MCM Reno project is nearing the start of construction, but we’re still working out some of the design details. The scope of the project has evolved, and our clients asked us to take a look at the stairs that connect the entry level and main living levels of the home. We’ve proposed reorganizing the stairs and using a glass railing, which will help the space feel more open and the connection between the two levels more prominent.

Pergola Project
Cait has been tackling an internal studio project – she’s been working by hand, sketching and modeling initial concepts for a freestanding pergola. It’s a great design exercise that is challenging us to interrogate how we inhabit space – and how much of a built structure can truly become architecture!

MAD Beach House
Sometimes it takes a few iterations to find the right solution for a project! Our MAD Beach House project continues to evolve. For the past few weeks, we’ve been considering wood siding as an alternative to stucco for this beach-side home. We love these elevation studies that Colbi put together that so compellingly present the concept!

In Construction
Hudson House
Hudson House is well into framing, with the new addition nearly framed out. Working within the envelope of an old house is complicated and has required close coordination between us, the clients and the extremely capable GC!

8 Oaks
Our client recently sent us some fantastic photos of all of the progress happening at 8 Oaks! Countertops and millwork are going in and the trellis at the primary window wall is going up as well, providing much needed shade for the main entry and dining area of this Tampa home.

Accord Addition
This small renovation and addition project recently wrapped up foundation work! We’re looking forward to the start of framing.

Quattro
Our newest CM project, we’re excited to share that Quattro has officially started construction! Our concrete contractor started working on footings on Tuesday and will hopefully be wrapping up his work next week.

Jardin66
This renovation and addition project is making slow but steady progress. Reframing work has started on the home’s interior, and concrete – with some creative maneuvering – was poured for the new addition.

Whitfield Farm
This renovation and addition project is starting to wrap up! The second round of millwork was recently installed in the kids’ bedrooms, and we finally stopped by to see the finished main bedroom suite! We’re also working on decks, landscaping and new stair and porch railings.

IRIE House
We had an even more dramatic concrete pour happening over at IRIE House this month. The concrete patio in the courtyard needed to be poured later in the project than the rest of the foundation, so the subcontractor had to be extremely nimble in getting a pump truck to the area! We also couldn’t help but share a photo of the pool area – so good for a hot summer day!

Pond Lane
The transformation of Pond Lane is truly spectacular. Colbi had a chance to visit the project and take in the new view. By raising the roof and opening up the wall with a large glass facade, we’re capturing Catskill Mountain views and helping the client create a much more functional home. (Yes, that’s the same wall!)

Vannstrøm
The roof is on and siding is going up at Vannstrøm! The house is starting to come together and we’re thinking about finishes and details.
