Let’s talk modern wood kitchen design!
We haven’t done that for some time here in The Architect’s Notebook – our last kitchen post was many months ago! – and it’s one of my favorite spots in a house since I love to cook.
For one of the projects we are currently designing, we are considering an all-wood modern kitchen. I love all-wood kitchens as I think they often soften the interior design of a modern home quite effectively. In this case, however, we have a lot of wood on the interior so need to be cautious that the many wood finishes work well together. Floors, cabinets, trim – that’s a lot of wood. I don’t think we’d want all the same wood, but if it’s all different our clients might go crazy walking into the room. We need to select materials that work together beautifully.
Today we’re sharing some of our inspiration for modern wood kitchens that we discussed with our clients during our last meeting. These images help us and our clients envision how different finishes could mesh in the same space.
